Visualize your emissions

Many carbon footprint calculators are on the web to help individuals understand their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. Here's a display at Copenhagen that helps visualize the numbers typically spit out of these calculators: the size of a ton of CO2.

The average American emits about 20 of these each year. The average person on earth emits about 4.
Imagine 28 trillion of these tons being emitted each year - that's what humans are contributing through fossil fuel combustion (more if you begin to include land cover change, such as deforestation).

  1. That's a similar ammount to what came out of Gary Forsee's mealy mouth at yesterdays town hall meeting.
